It’s a star-studded leaderboard through 36 holes at the 2025 Players Championship as both young up-and-comers and older stalwarts are jockeying for position at the PGA Tour’s flagship tournament. Moving Day should live up to its name as high winds will hit TPC Sawgrass creating difficult scoring conditions for some of the best golfers in the world.
Min Woo Lee and Akshay Bhatia open Round 3 with a two-stroke lead over J.J. Spaun, though many eyes will be on the men two back as Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa threaten to claim the latest notable victory in their careers. McIlroy, already a winner on the PGA Tour this season, could join rarified air with his second Players while providing himself with some much needed momentum ahead of the 2025 Masters. Morikawa has a chance for redemption — after falling apart late Sunday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational — while potentially capturing his first PGA Tour win in a year and a half. And then there’s two-time reigning champion Scottie Scheffler, who lurks from six shots back alongside Rickie Fowler. Don’t overlook either of them.
