The Chiefs have started the season 3-0 despite not having their starting left tackle available.
Josh Simmons has been sidelined by a back injury that’s been considered week-to-week. But it’s currently unclear if Simmons will return to practice in advance of Sunday’s matchup with the 3-0 Raiders.
“I’ll tell you what, I will let you guys know when Josh is coming back. I’ll be the first to tell you,” head coach Andy Reid said in his Monday news conference. “We’ll just see how all that works.”
Simmons appeared in eight games as a rookie in 2025.
Undrafted rookie Khalil Benson has started in Simmons’ stead at left tackle and has helped keep Patrick Mahomes upright. The quarterback has been sacked just four times through the first three weeks.
