The Broncos have given away more points to the Chargers in the second half.
With 2:58 left in the third quarter, a Gus Edwards 5-yard touchdown has narrowed Denver’s lead to 24-19.
The Broncos scored on their opening drive of the second half with a 41-yard field goal by Wil Lutz, putting their lead at 23-13.
On the ensuing drive, the Chargers got into the red zone with a 19-yard pass from Justin Herbert to Stone Smartt, putting the ball at Denver’s 15.
But the Broncos sacked Herbert for a 10-yard loss on the next play, setting up second-and-20. The Chargers were likely going to have to settle for a field goal but linebacker Justin Strand hit Herbert as he was sliding on a 7-yard scramble, giving Los Angeles a free first down.
On the next play, Edwards took a carry to the left and easily got in for his second rushing touchdown of the game.
Notably, Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman is questionable to return with a groin injury. He had missed the last few weeks with a groin issue and was active for Thursday’s game after being questionable for the contest.
