The first leg of the EFL Carabao Cup semifinals is here as both Tottenham and Liverpool will look to kick things off on the right foot with only two matches until the final. Both teams will hope that this is a little more subdued than the 6-3 Liverpool victory the last time that they met but considering Tottenham’s injury crisis and that new keeper Antonin Kinsky Jr. could debut at a critical time, this one could have goals.
Tottenham are down to one senior center back, with manager Ange Postecoglou’s job under increasing scrutiny, while Liverpool are getting healthier and stronger by the day under Arne Slot, although they suffered a hiccup over the weekend in a 2-2 draw with Manchester United. But in a knockout competition, anything can happen so tune in to what should be an exciting affair.
The match follows Tuesday’s surprise Newcastle win over Arsenal at the Emirates, where Alexander Isak fired the visitors to a 2-0 win. Though with second-legs still to come in February, all four teams remain in the hunt as they chase a trophy.
