As fighters were weighed in on Friday for UFC 311, news began to surface that Arman Tsarukyan was out of the main event due to injury. UFC CEO Dana White confirmed that news and said that Renato Moicano was being bumped from his main card fight with Beneil Dariush to challenge Islam Makhachev for the lightweight championship.
Facing Makhachev is a huge step up for Moicano, who brings a four-fight winning streak to Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. Makhachev is not only champion, but is considered by most to be the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport.
In the night’s co-main event, Merab Dvalishvili will put the bantamweight championship on the line against fast-rising star Umar Nurmagomedov. Dvalishvili enters the Octagon as an underdog in the first defense of his title but has remained confident that not only is he being overlooked, but that Nurmagomedov is only receiving this title shot because of his last name.
CBS Sports will be with you the entire way on Saturday bringing you all the results and highlights from the UFC 311 below. The main card begins at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN+ PPV following preliminary bouts at 8 p.m. ET.
