It will be a quick turnaround for many of the names atop the leaderboard at the 2025 Players Championship as second-round play begins. The likes of Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler and Scottie Scheffler all rose within striking distance as course conditions eased, and they are now getting first crack at TPC Sawgrass ahead of the cut being made Friday evening.
Camilo Villegas, Lucas Glover and J.J. Spaun open Round 2 tied atop the leaderboard with McIlroy and Scheffler — sharing a morning tee time with Xander Schauffele — likely to make a run as play begins. Unlike his playing partners, Schauffele will need to make the most of his Friday after a poor finish left him at even par for the championship and in danger of missing the cut.
There’s no telling whether TPC Sawgrass will toughen or ease up as 144 golfers attempt to trek its 18 holes, but all will make their best efforts ahead of Moving Day.
