DeAndre Hopkins: I have a lot left, but in no rush to be a regular-season superstar

Veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has shared some thoughts about quarterbacks he’d like to play with this offseason, but he remains a free agent weeks before training camps open around the league.

That’s not a position that seems to bother him. During an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Hopkins said that he still has “a lot ball left” but isn’t trying to “force” anything with a signing because his eyes are not on making the kind of regular season plays that younger players make to establish themselves.

“Going into year 14, I would love to play for a competitor if that time came,” Hopkins said. “I’m not in no rush to go out and be a regular-season superstar because for me, I’m not getting a contract extension.”

Hopkins averaged 15 yards a catch on 22 receptions with the Ravens last season and called himself a “special situation kind of guy” at this point in his career. He mentioned third downs as an example of those kinds of situations, although it remains to be seen if a contender values making him part of their plans for the coming season.
