The Bills worked out veteran wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge, Dante Pettis and Isaiah Whitehead. Shortly thereafter, the team announced it has signed Pettis to a one-year deal.
In a corresponding move, wide receiver Jalen Virgil was waived with a non-football injury.
Pettis, 30, has eight years of NFL experience with four different teams, most recently playing for the Saints the past two seasons. In 2025, Pettis played eight games, seeing action on 114 offensive snaps and 53 on special teams. He totaled nine catches for 127 yards and averaged 23.4 yards on 15 kickoff returns and 6.1 yards on 13 punt returns.
In his career, Pettis has 92 receptions for 1,231 yards and 13 touchdowns across 66 games.
Pettis entered the league as a second-round pick of the 49ers in 2018.
