Champions League scores: Bayern Munich look to advance past Celtic after AC Milan’s surprise elimination

Feyenoord became the first team to advance in the UEFA Champions League’s knockout phase playoffs, ousting AC Milan following a 1-1 draw on Tuesday and winning the tie 2-1 on aggregate.

A star-studded Milan scored in the first minute of the second leg courtesy of Santiago Gimenez, who scored his third goal for the club in five games. Milan continued to rack up shots, with Rafael Leao and Joao Felix playing important roles in the first half, but were unable to score another. Things unraveled for Milan when Theo Hernandez was shown a second yellow early in the second half, and Feyenoord were able to capitalize on one of their few attacking plays. Hugo Bueno’s cross in the 74th minute found Julian Carranza’s head  just moments after he came on, giving the visitors the edge needed to advance.

Later today, Bayern Munich hope to hang onto their one goal advantage after a 2-1 at Celtic last week and aim to bounce back after an unusually poor attacking showing over the weekend. Club Brugge and Benfica also hold one goal leads against Atalanta and Monaco, respectively.
