Cowboys rookie LB Jaishawn Barham has a groin injury

Cowboys rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham left Thursday’s practice early.

Todd Archer of ESPN reports that Barham has a groin injury that is not expected to keep him out long.

Barham, a third-round pick, has stood out in camp.

Barham has taken some first-team reps at inside linebacker, with defensive coordinator Christian Parker lauding Barham for bringing “a physicality and a demeanor to the inside of the defense.”

“It’s his ability to apply the things we’re coaching,” head coach Brian Schottenheimer said, via Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “We see and know the physicality, but to see it and apply it has been great.”

In two seasons at Maryland and two at Michigan, Barham totaled 193 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 12 sacks and seven pass deflections in 48 games.
