Drake Maye returns after concussion evaluation, but Patriots continue to struggle

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is back after briefly exiting today’s game for a concussion evaluation.

Maye was hit hard in the head along the sideline and went to the locker room to get checked out. Jacoby Brissett replaced him, and the Patriots’ offense went three-and-out on Brissett’s lone drive.

But once Maye was cleared to return, he got back on the field and didn’t seem concerned, running the ball on his first play back on the field and picking up a penalty flag when he was hit while sliding.

Unfortunately for the Patriots, later on that drive Maye fumbled a pitch and the Chargers recovered. The Patriots’ offense hasn’t done much of anything, and the Patriots’ defense has struggled to contain Justin Herbert and the Chargers’ offense. Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez also exited the game and was ruled out with a concussion.

It’s been all L.A. today, and the Chargers lead 17-0.
