Fred Warner: Jed York arrest really wasn’t a topic of conversation in 49ers’ locker room

49ers linebacker Fred Warner says the players aren’t talking about team owner Jed York’s arrest and subsequent no contest plea after he attempted to solicit prostitution.

Asked about York’s arrest, Warner said the players know about it but aren’t discussing it.

“We’re all aware, we all have social media so we see things,” Warner said. “But at the same time, I’ve got a lot of love, a lot of respect for Jed, and don’t feel the need to comment on the situation. I think the team was the same way. It really wasn’t a conversation being had in the locker room. Yeah, you notice it, but we’re so hyper-focused in this building on trying to prepare for Week One. A lot of guys are on the bubble, trying to make the team. We’re just trying to get better as a football team, and that personal situation, let it stay personal with him.”

Warner’s comments echoed those of head coach Kyle Shanahan, who said York’s arrest had no effect on the team. It’s not often that an NFL owner is arrested, so there’s no real playbook for how the players and coaches should react, but the 49ers are doing their best not to react at all.
