Cowboys owner Jerry Jones delayed losing a home game to an international site for as long as he could. And even though it took 20 seasons of international regular-season games for it to happen, Jones doesn’t like it.
“Well, you pay a price,” Jones said Friday on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, via EssentiallySports.com. “But that’s the price we’re paying to create and sustain the interest internationally. And that creates a lot of interest in television. That gives us another place to show our games during the Sunday morning of the week. And so all of this is good. I’m in complete agreement with how we’re developing and doing our international games. But I don’t like it when it takes one of your home games away. That’s no good.”
That said, Jones said he’d like to play a game in Mexico, if/when the Cowboys are next required to “host” one. And he said he expects the Cowboys to play more international games as the visiting team.
For today, the Cowboys are giving up a home game against the Ravens in Rio.
