The Falcons got a win in Las Vegas on Monday, but the postgame discourse about quarterback Kirk Cousins didn’t sound all that different than it did during their four-game losing streak.
Cousins threw his first touchdown since Week Nine, but was just 11-of-17 for 112 yards and also threw an interception as the Falcons managed just two other field goals on offense over the rest of the night. Head coach Raheem Morris was blunt after the game in saying that Cousins has to do a better job and the quarterback took no issue with that assessment of his play.
“I think I can play better. I don’t think that’s a mystery,” Cousins said, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I think the last few weeks I would say I need to play better. That’s when Raheem says it, that’s stating the obvious. Every week you go through your process and plan to play the very best that you can. So this week will be no different.”
When asked what specifically he’d like to improve about his play, Cousins said it is “always just decision making so that you’re not putting the ball in harm’s way.” After throwing six interceptions in the previous two games, Cousins was a bit better on that front if still falling well short of the kind of quarterback play that the Falcons hoped to get this season.
