Matthew Stafford on four straight games without an interception: Be disciplined and stay aggressive

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford had a four-game run last December that saw him throw 10 touchdowns and no interceptions while the Rams won three of four games on their way to making the playoffs.

History may be repeating itself. Stafford has 10 touchdowns and no interceptions in the team’s last four games and the Rams have won three of them to move to 7-6 and improve their chances of returning to the postseason.

On Tuesday, Stafford said that there’s some luck involved with avoiding interceptions while explaining what his approach has been to the game the last few weeks.

“Every pick kind of has its own story, but I’m just trying to keep our team in it as best I can, be as disciplined as I can while still being aggressive and giving our guys opportunities to make plays because they’re doing a great job of that for me right now,” Stafford said, via a transcript from the team.

Stafford has never gone five straight games without throwing a pick in his NFL career and he’ll try to change that against the 49ers on Thursday night. If he can, it should bode well for the Rams’ chances of making sure they repeat as playoff participants as well.
