The NFL continues to fine Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair for his habit of putting messages on his eye black.
Via Rebecca Tauber of The Athletic, the league fined Al-Shaair $11,941 for having “Hind Rajab” written on the strips under his eyes during Sunday’s game against the Bills.
Hind Rajab was a five-year-old Palestinian girl. She was killed in 2024 along with six family members when their car was fired upon by Israeli forces in 2024.
Hind Rajab is also the subject of Macklemore’s song Hind’s Hall, which was one of the reasons for Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s objection to Macklemore’s presence on the current Ed Sheeran tour. Macklemore was dropped from the tour based on the pro-Palestine messaging during his performances.
In January, the league fined Al-Shaair $11,593 for having “stop the genocide” on his eye strips during the wild-card win at Pittsburgh. He had the same message on his eye-black strips during pregame warmups for the divisional-round game against the Patriots. He said he was told he’d be removed from play if he displayed the message during the game.
