Report: Jonathan Allen working to return this season

Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen has been on injured reserve since mid-October because of a torn pectoral muscle, but ht hasn’t shut the door on a possible return.

John Keim of ESPN.com reports that surgeons found that Allen only suffered a partial tear of his pec in Week Six. That created hope that Allen could work his way back before the Commanders are done playing and subsequent checks by doctors have not ruled that out.

Allen is reportedly trying to get cleared to return before the end of the year, but a playoff berth would extend the window for him to make it back on the field. The 8-5 Commanders return from their bye to face the Saints this weekend.

Allen had 15 tackles and two sacks in the first six weeks of the season.
