Shedeur Sanders shows off Giants-themed cleats before bowl game

The Giants are closing in on the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. And Colorado quarterback Sheduer Sanders seems to be warming to the idea of the Giants drafting him.

Shedeur, the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, showed off Giants-themed cleats prior to his final college game.

Although he didn’t wear them during the game, the message seems to be that Shedeur has no qualms about the Giants drafting him in 2025.

Thirty-six years earlier, his father wasn’t quite as inclined to be considered by the Giants. In 1989, they met with Deion. They asked him to take a lengthy test.

Deion refused.

They sat me down and gave me a thick book,” Sanders said on NFL Network in 2017. “I mean, this thing was thicker than a phone book. I said, ‘What’s this?’ They said, ‘This is our test that we give all the players.’ I said, ‘Excuse me, what pick do you have in the draft?’ They said, I think, 10th [actually 18th]. I said, ‘I’ll be gone before then. I’ll see y’all later. I ain’t got time for this.’ That’s a true story.”

It would be wise for the Giants not to ask Shedeur to take the same test. If they want him, take him. He seems to be willing to go there, for now.

It remains to be seen whether he’s the guy the Giants will want. His closing argument — a 36-14 loss to BYU — wasn’t compelling. He completed 16 of 23 passes for 208 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in his final college football game.
