The Texans gained only 86 yards in the first half, but their two takeaways of Tua Tagovailoa have them leading 13-6 at halftime.
The Houston defense held Miami to 112 yards and forced a Tagovaila fumble and intercepted him. Texans defensive lineman Will Anderson had a strip-sack of Tagovailoa, and defensive tackle Tim Settle recovered for the Texans at the Miami 28. Four plays later, the Texans had the first touchdown of the game on C.J. Stroud’s 6-yard touchdown pass to Nico Collins.
With 25 seconds left in the half, Tagovailoa tried to hit Tyreek Hill over the middle. He never saw safety Calen Bullock, who returned the pick 68 yards to the Miami 5 before De’Von Achane saved the pick-six. The Texans had to settle for a 23-yard Ka’imi Fairbairn field goal after a sack of Stroud and an incompletion.
Fairbairn also had a 44-yard field goal.
Stroud is 10-of-15 for 79 yards, completing passes to six different players, and he lost a fumble. Joe Mixon has only 5 yards on four carries and was injured on a hip drop tackle that wasn’t called but did return.
Tagovailoa is 14-of-20 for 86 yards and a pick, with Malik Washington catching three passes for 33 yards.
Dolphins receiver Jaylen Wadde is questionable to return with a right knee injury, and the Texans ruled out defensive tackle Foley Fatukasi with an ankle injury.
