With Jayden Higgins now out for the season, the Texans are adding a pair of veteran receivers.
According to a report from NFL Network, Houston is signing Sterling Shepard and Zay Jones.
A second-round pick in 2016, Shepard spent the last two seasons with the Buccaneers. In 2025, he caught 38 passes for 371 yards with a touchdown while also taking four carries for 19 yards.
Shepard spent his first eight pro seasons with the Giants, appearing in 90 games with 74 starts for the club. In all, Shepard has 443 receptions for 4,800 yards with 25 TDs.
Jones, a second-round pick in 2017, was with the Cardinals for the last two seasons. He caught 12 passes for 183 yards in eight games last year. Jones has appeared in 123 career games with 69 starts for the Bills, Raiders, Jaguars, and Cardinals. He’s caught 307 passes for 3,295 yards with 18 TDs.
The Texans also worked out Josh Reynolds on Friday, according to the league’s transaction wire.
After playing Las Vegas on Thursday night, Houston’s preseason finale will be next Friday against Carolina.
