Transfer deadline day: Biggest moves, what to know as Christian Pulisic gets help, Tottenham land Mathys Tel

What didn’t seem like it would be an eventful deadline day had fireworks from start to finish as Manchester City secured Nico Gonzalez to bolster their midfield and Milan shook up the entire squad. Santiago Gimenez joined from Feyenoord, Joao Felix is expected to be announced as well on loan from Chelsea while Noah Okafor left for Napoli days after Alvaro Morata joined Galatasaray, among other moves. Major League Soccer also made headlines with Cucho Hernandez leaving the Columbus Crew for Real Betis in a club-record $16 million sale and Emmanuel Latte Lath reportedly joining Atlanta United for an MLS-record $22 million fee. Moves like these show where the league is heading but there was plenty going on elsewhere.

Tottenham won the Mathys Tel sweepstakes by signing the young forward on loan with an option to buy showing that no transfer is complete until the ink has dried. Ben Chilwell will get a chance to impress at Crystal Palace after being frozen out of the Chelsea squad, and in the end, it was an eventful day with clubs around the world getting signings done but England and Italy led the way.
