PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — With a week of preparation and pageantry in the books, the PGA Tour’s flagship event takes center stage. The 2025 Players Championship is riddled with storylines and big names with three of the biggest sharing a tee time at TPC Sawgrass across the first two rounds. The top three players in the world — Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele — will compete alongside one another through the first 36 holes in a star-studded trio.
One year after becoming the first golfers to successfully defend his Players title, Scheffler seeks to become the first to accomplish a three-peat and join Jack Nicklaus with the most wins in Players history. Meanwhile, McIlroy continues his march towards the year’s first major championship, while Schauffele hopes to take another step towards finding the quality form that carried him to a pair of major championships last season.
