Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will play his first game under offensive coordinator Declan Doyle on Sunday and he’s set to do so without a contract extension.
Jackson has a cap hit of more than $84 million for the 2027 season, which is the final year of his current deal. The Ravens have expressed desire to get a new deal done, but nothing has come together and Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that no substantive conversations have taken place about an agreement.
As a result, Jackson, who does not employ an agent, is expected to start the season under his current pact and will likely end it with the same deal as he prefers not to discuss contract matters during the season.
Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta recently expressed optimism about reaching agreement on an extension before March 2027 and Sunday’s report suggests that any deal will wait until much closer to that time.
