Davante Adams on his 13th season: “This is dog years out there”

At 33, Rams receiver Davante Adams is young by societal standards. By NFL standards, he’s not quite Methuselah — but he’s getting there.

Speaking with reporters on Sunday, Adams addressed the fact that he’s not getting any younger as he enters his 13th NFL season. (Then again, who is?)

“I battle with that sometimes, I do,” Adams said. “I am the old man and I feel young because I can still go out there and do young man stuff, but then my body don’t necessarily feel the same way it’s done as it was back at Puka [Nacua’s] age.

“At the end of the day, what’s 13 times seven? Because this is dog years out here. It’s a whole different ball game than living years. If I can continue to play at a high level, I’ll deal with the other stuff whether it’s talking about me being old or a little bit of extra pain. It’s just a little extra work you have to do to come out of it.”

He’s still playing at a high level. Adams caught 14 touchdown passes to lead the league (for the third time) in 2025, despite missing three regular-season games.

And even though it doesn’t get discussed much, Adams surely has a little extra motivation from the fact that the Rams explored trading for receiver A.J. Brown, which would have resulted in Adams being traded yet again.

For now, Adams is going nowhere. When his fourteenth season (times seven) rolls around, who knows where he will be? For now, he’s a Ram — and that gives him the best chance he’s had to add a Super Bowl ring to a potential Hall of Fame resume.

Six-time Pro Bowler. Three-time first-team All-Pro. Seventh all-time in receiving touchdowns. Sixteenth in catches. Twenty-sixth in receiving yards. The longer he plays, the higher he’ll climb.
