Daniel Jones: Being an MVP candidate doesn’t mean much after six weeks

One of the most surprising developments of this NFL season is that Colts quarterback Daniel Jones is an MVP candidate. But Jones brushed that off when asked about it this week.

Asked what it means to him that people are talking about him as a potential Most Valuable Player, Jones answered, “Not much after six weeks.”

“We’ve got a long way to go. I’ve really enjoyed playing with these guys, I think we’ve got a lot of talented players across the board, and just trying to do my part in that,” Jones continued.

At 5-1, the Colts are one of the NFL’s pleasant surprises, but Jones said they’re just focused on what’s in front of them.

“Still a long way to go. I think we all know that,” Jones said.

Everyone knows that the season is far from over, but if Jones plays for 11 more games like he played in the first six, he will at least appear on MVP ballots, if not win the award outright. Given where he’s been in his career until now, that in itself is remarkable.
