When Davante Adams was a rookie on the Packers — way back in 2014 — the team got off to a 1-2 start.
Green Bay’s quarterback then famously spelled out a word during a radio interview: “R-E-L-A-X.”
Eventually, that Packers team went 12-4 in the regular season, beat the Cowboys in the divisional round, and lost a wild NFC Championship game to the Seahawks.
It’s over a decade later, but perhaps that was somewhere in the back of Adams’ mind on Sunday night after the Rams lost to the Broncos, dropping Los Angeles’ record to 1-2.
“Stay in, I mean, it’s nothing to freak out about,” Adams said, via transcript from the Broncos, when asked about the team’s 1-2 start. “There’s a lot of football left, and it’s not like we’re not playing good ball, obviously excluding that first game.
“Unfortunately, I mean, I don’t know if it’s unfortunate, but based on our situation, unfortunately, this league is about wins and losses, so there’s a lot that we can take from a game like this and feel good about. But there’s no moral victories, so we’re definitely disappointed to not finish it out. But just to get back to what we do, and that’s going back to practice, get back to the drawing board and just find a way to finish off something again.”
With Puka Nacua sidelined for the last couple of weeks due to injury, Adams has been the team’s top receiving option — recording back-to-back games of 100 yards for the first time since joining the team last offseason.
While Nacua may be back for Week 4, the schedule will not get any easier, as the Rams will travel across the country to face the Eagles on Sunday.
