Dolphins cut QB Mark Gronowski from practice squad, sign Mazi Smith, Clelin Ferrell to it

The Dolphins cut quarterback Mark Gronowski from the practice squad on Tuesday.

He initially signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent on May 8, but the Dolphins cut him on Sunday. Gronowski re-signed to the practice squad on Monday.

His departure leaves only Malik Willis and Kyle McCord in the quarterbacks room.

The Dolphins announced the signings of eight players to their practice squad, including a pair of former first-round picks.

Pass rusher Clelin Ferrell and defensive lineman Mazi Smith entered the NFL as first-rounders. The Jets cut Smith on Sunday, and Ferrell was with the Dolphins in training camp before his release.

The Dolphins also signed inside linebacker Liam Anderson, edge Amari Gainer, defensive lineman Jordan Miller, wide receiver Will Sheppard, cornerback Jaylin Simpson and tight end Tre Watson to their practice squad.
