Jalen Ramsey says “pay Joey Porter”

Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey exited the Physically Unable to Perform list and practiced for the first time during 2026 training camp. He also had a message, during a session with reporters.

“We need the whole secondary out there,” Ramsey said. “They’ve got to pay Joey Porter.”

Earlier on Monday, coach Mike McCarthy said that the Steelers and Porter, a second-round pick in 2023, are at an “impasse.”

Porter remains on the PUP list, the product of an obvious hold in. The question becomes whether he’ll take the best offer the Steelers have made on a multi-year deal, play the final year of his rookie contract at less than $4 million, continue to sit out into the regular season, or be traded.

Regardless, the clock is ticking. The Steelers, as a matter of policy, don’t do new deals once the season begins.
