It’s not over. It’s just beginning.
With the NFL slamming the door on quarterback Brendan Sorsby’s application for the supplemental draft, Sorsby’s lawyer will fight the decision.
“It is a violation of the CBA and the law,” Jeffrey Kessler told Pete Thamel of ESPN. “We will pursue this immediately with the NFLPA.”
Sorsby isn’t a member of the NFL Players Association. However, the supplemental draft was created by collective bargaining. The NFLPA has standing to challenge the NFL’s decision to not conduct a supplemental draft — if it chooses to do so.
Sorsby has separate rights that could be pursued in court. Kessler has not yet said that he will be filing a lawsuit. It’s obviously one of the potential avenues for pursuing relief from the NFL’s decision to freeze Sorsby out until 2027.
