Klint Kubiak: Ashton Jeanty is on the mend

The injury to Ashton Jeanty was apparently not as serious as initially feared, as it was reported that he was diagnosed with a sprained ankle after going down during practice over the weekend.

In his Tuesday press conference, head coach Klint Kubiak declined to give any specifics about Jeanty or the nature of his injury, saying simply that Jeanty is “on the mend.”

When asked as a follow up if there has been discussion about Jeanty possibly starting the season on injured reserve, Kubiak again said only that Jeanty is “on the mend.”

He did, however, give a clue that Jeanty’s injury is not too serious when he smiled and noted “the power of prayer,” in reference to the team coming together, taking a knee, and sharing a moment after Jeanty left the field.

Jeanty did not practice on Tuesday.

If the Raiders were to put Jeanty on injured reserve at the time of roster cuts, then he would be eligible to return after four weeks.
