Kyle Shanahan has no concern about Nick Bosa’s missed practice time for soreness

49ers defensive end Nick Bosa, who missed most of last season with a torn ACL, has been absent from practice recently due to soreness. In coach Kyle Shanahan’s first training-camp press conference, he was asked whether the situation causes any concern.

“No,” Shanahan said. “He was doing great, and then he got sore just going through some of the individual. You wish that didn’t happen, but no, there’s no concern to where something’s happened that is a big setback or anything. We’ll wait until the soreness goes away and evaluate why the soreness has happened, but I still feel pretty good about that.”

Saying there hasn’t been a “big setback” opens the door for the possibility of a non-big setback. And the evaluation regarding the cause(s) of the soreness could lead to a conclusion that there’s something deeper causing it.

It’s just the latest complication for a 49ers team that has had more than a few injury issues since camp opened. Which has to be a concern, given that the situation likely won’t get any better once the games start to be played.
