Red Sox vs. White Sox prediction: Odds, recent stats, trends, and best bets for July 7

The Chicago White Sox (47-42) return home tonight to open a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox (40-48) at Rate Field. While Boston arrives in Chicago riding a three-game winning streak after a successful trip to Anaheim, the White Sox are also feeling good having won the last two games of their weekend series against division rival Cleveland. As a result of those back-to-back wins, the Sox sit alone atop the AL Central by one game. Boston sits fifth in the AL East but their recent run of good results (8-2 over their last ten games) has moved them to within four games of the last Wild Card spot.

Tonight’s pitching matchup features a couple of young left-handers. Boston is scheduled to start Payton Tolle (4-6, 3.39 ERA) against Noah Schultz (2-5, 5.86 ERA) for Chicago. Tolle has been one of the brighter developments in an otherwise disappointing Red Sox season, posting a 1.12 WHIP while striking out 74 batters in 74.1 innings. Schultz, one of the White Sox’s most highly regarded pitching prospects, has yet to pitch into the seventh inning in any of his nine starts and has allowed two runs or less just three times in those nine starts.

Lets dive into tonight’s matchup and find a sweat or two.

We’ve got all the info and analysis you need to know ahead of the game, including the latest info on the how to catch first pitch, odds, recent team performance, player stats, and of course, our predictions, picks & best bets for the game from our modeling tools and staff of experts.
