Texans to sign DE Derek Parish

The Texans lost defensive end Dylan Horton to a torn Achilles this week and they made a move to help fill in for him on Tuesday.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that they are signing Derek Parish to their 90-man roster. The NFL’s daily transaction report doesn’t have word about that move, but does show that Horton and linebacker Marte Mapu have been placed on injured reserve.

Parish was a 2023 seventh-round pick of the Jaguars, but never played in any games for the team. He played for Toronto in the CFL and then moved on to the UFL’s DC Defenders this spring.

Parish had 23 tackles, four tackles for loss, three sacks and a forced fumble for the Defenders.
