The assault allegation against Geno Smith is “not an active case”

Earlier today, there was a question as to whether the assault allegation involving Jets quarterback Geno Smith was, or wasn’t, the subject of an open case.

Rich Cimini of ESPN has clarified the situation.

A police spokesperson told this to Cimini: “It is not an active case, but is still being reviewed before [a report] can be released.”

Cimini also notes that the Jets aren’t commenting on the situation.

The fact that the case has been closed doesn’t foreclose an NFL investigation under the Personal Conduct Policy.
