Chiefs CB Mansoor Delane to have MRI on shoulder

Chiefs first-round pick Mansoor Delane had a brief, but eventful NFL debut on Monday night.

Delane recorded his first interception as a pro when he snagged a pass from Broncos quarterback Bo Nix on the third play of the game. That would be the last contribution of the night for the rookie cornerback, however.

Delane went to the locker room with a shoulder injury during the Broncos’ second offensive possession. Head coach Andy Reid did not have an update on his condition after the game and Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that he will have an MRI on Tuesday.

Garafolo adds that X-rays were negative and that there is hope that Delane, who also dealt with a shoulder injury in the spring, emerged with a sprain. Tuesday’s test should provide a better picture of how long it will be before he’s back in the Kansas City secondary.
