Davie, Florida police will continue to investigate assault allegation against Geno Smith

The case arising from a weekend assault allegation against Jets quarterback Geno Smith is closed. Unless it isn’t.

Andy Slater of Fox Sports South Florida now reports that police in Davie, Florida, after saying the case is “no longer open,” now say that one of the department’s detectives will further investigate the situation.

The incident emerged over the weekend, when a woman named “Kristen” posted a video in which she claimed Smith “beat my ass.”

The Jets have not commented on the situation. In addition to the possibility that Smith eventually will face charges, the NFL has the ability to investigate the situation (and to impose discipline) under the Personal Conduct Policy.

Smith, a second-round pick of the Jets in 2013, returned via trade in March after a decade of playing for various other teams. He’s expected to be the 2026 starter.
