ESPN opts not to renew Will Blackmon’s Good Morning Football contract

Will Blackmon is out at ESPN. Even if he was never really in.

Via Brendon Kleen of Awful Announcing, ESPN opted not to renew Blackmon’s contract for NFL Network’s Good Morning Football.

“ESPN/GMFB let me go on my day off,” Blackmon said on Twitter. “I was added to the roster in April and didn’t even get a snap. A Healthy scratch.”

Blackmon joined the show for the 2025 season. With ESPN acquiring NFL Network as of April 1 — and reportedly keeping all on-air employees who were under contract at least until those contracts expire — Blackmon’s contract has expired and will not be renewed, per Kleen.

The churn will likely continue in the coming months, as more existing contracts expire and aren’t renewed.

A fourth-round pick in 2006, Blackmon played for the Packers, Giants, Jaguars, and Washington in a career that spanned a decade.
