Notre Dame gets an even better jersey patch deal than Ohio State

There’s gold in them thar jerseys. Literally.

On the same day Ohio State landed a deal with JPMorgan Chase at reportedly north of $15 million per year, Notre Dame reportedly has a deal with SoFi, via Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports, at an average of $18 million to $20 million per year.

It’s the latest effort to turn college football jerseys into billboards, with programs that need to generate more money looking for ways to do so. And the presence of jersey patches on college football uniforms will lead to even more.

Which eventually will result in the NFL following suit in the effort to put ads on their in-game fits.

It’s coming. Like it or not.

Actually, it’s amazing it hasn’t happened yet. It’s found money for the NFL. Every year it doesn’t happen, it’s money lost.

When will it happen? Who knows? But it’s something the NFL Players Association should pushing for it. The revenue is shared. Why not maximize it?
